We’ve been championing spill tab here at TMR for a while now, so we’re very excited by her new single ‘Splinter’. It’s a melody-focused track that puts her impressive, acrobatic voice front and centre. Her range takes us through hooks that span multiple octaves and make skillful leaps with ease. The track is restrained for the most part, but explodes out into a thick, bouncy chorus that stays with you long after its conclusion. “I wanted to make something with a bit of an early 2000s rom-com end credits vibe going on, so I made ‘Splinter ‘with my friends Wyatt and Austin, who absolutely smashed it,” she explains. “It’s a bit depressing lyrically but I love having those visuals layered over the crunchy drums and guitars.” Keep an eye out for more from spill tab this year. -Dan Peeke.
